Joe’s Stone Crab

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Joe's Stone Crab, a Miami Beach institution, I was invited to photograph the restaurant and its remarkable staff for a commemorative book, Waiting At Joe's. While Joe's is famous for its legendary three-hour wait, this book turns the lens on the people behind that experience — lifelong servers who have become part of the restaurant's legacy, some for nearly half a century.

With full behind-the-scenes access, I spent three days capturing and editing the vibrant personalities and stories that define the iconic Joe's experience. One image from the shoot was selected to be permanently displayed at the restaurant's entrance, alongside a photograph by Helmut Newton.

Waiting At Joe's is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and bookstores nationwide.

My photograph (below) of the wait staff captains was selected for permanent display at the entrance of Joe's Stone Crab, paired with a candid photograph of the captains taken by the legendary Helmut Newton during one of his visits, welcoming everyone to the restaurant.
